Funded by BBC Children in Need, The Street was produced by young people from Tottenham. Using poetry and docudrama the film visualises street protest, urban communities and the ideas for the future street.
Hackney Moves House.
Young people from Hackney produced a digital film exploring the issues of urban youth. They took their
experiences away from Hackney on a trip to Dungeness. Putting their ideas into a different context
and location, inspired them to re-think the issues and solutions.
The School Of Horrors.
Funded by The Learning Trust, this digital media project dramatised young peoples fears and hopes of
secondary school. Produced by year six students from Holmleigh School in Hackney, the film portrays
school as a prison run by various gangs and zombies.
Evacuate Now.
Young people from Hackney produced a film about an imaginary world war. Evacuate Now, depicts
young peoples lives turned upside down when they are told to board coaches that will escort them to a central government correctional facility. The project inspired the young people to talk about their experiences and
knowledge of conflict and change.
Easy Pink
Written produced and directed by young men from Hackney and Islington, Easy Pink tells the story of two
broke guys needing quick cash. Joe and Daniel who are two unskilled young men looking to take a chance
with a dubious drug dealer called George.
Ish Returns
A digital film project with young people from Tower Hamlets, funded by First Light Films. The film follows the
actions of a young man who simply must have a mobile phone. He steals one in a cafe but cannot live with the
consequences. "Demons" plague him at every turn. Eventually he returns the phone to its original owner and
clears his conscience.
The Benjamin Brite Show.
A digital media project funded by First Light Films with young people from Tower Hamlets. The film dramatises
the effects of celebrity culture on young people’s identities. Ben stages a chat show inside his bedroom with
himself as the host. His imaginary guests include Simon Cowell, Tinnie Tempah and Lady GaGa.
